The Farm: Papkuilsvlei
Wild West Coast is on the working family farm Papkuilsvlei, moving towards a nature conservation perspective.
Our farming activities include cattle, sheep and rooibos.
The farm is on the outskirts of the village Redelinghuys, a small town hidden between patches of blue-gum trees and surrounded by a rocky hillside. The famous Verlorenvlei (RAMSAR protected) stretches from the upper reaches at Redelinghuys, 30km North and flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Elands Bay.
It makes an excellent base for day trips to the seaside or to explore the scenic country side.
Verlorenvlei is renowned for its prolific bird life (+180 species), indigenous Fynbos, flora & fauna, potato farms and unspoilt nature.
During the annual flower season (July-September) a multitude of flowers carpet the vicinity with glorious colours and scents. Daisies, chinckerenchees, belladonna lilies, arum and also Pink Afrikaner (red lily), also called the Sandveld Lily are to be seen.
